He hit his pregnant girlfriend, leaving bruises on her belly and sending her to the hospital to make sure the fetus wasn't damaged.

That's just not smart. Donkey Kong the girlfriend over the head (no bruises) and then hanger city for the fetus.
I do it all the time. Saves money on condoms, and it keeps m'lady in line.
