A Show! A Show!
Despite the news about my brother and his continuing drama, I decided I would *finally* check out a band I'd been waiting months to see, The Anti-Villians. What really sealed the deal for me was finding out that both that band and The Ahia, band of my former special naked friend, would be playing together. Since I knew for sure I would know at least one person, awkwardly at best, I would go, have a listen, drink some good beer, and maybe meet a person or two.
It was super! Turns out that an old buddy of mine has a boyfriend in the band too, so we caught up and had some fun times. And after that it was as if people from the past had flooded the bar. I was worried I wouldn't know anyone when it turned out that I actually knew about 8 or 9 people. I was also lucky enough to meet some very cool cats too! So rekindled friendships, great beer, good music, *and* finding new friends? That is the kind of night I've been waiting for!

Now you know the secret- dont try to meet new people, just try and find people you already know and get them to introduce you to others.
Human beings dont like change.

Just a random update:
I did karaoke the other day. I was down town, and noticed that the Mexican restaurant next door to where I used to work had it advertised for 8pm. Went in, played free pool (badly) and watched nearly everyone leave after paying their bill. After ten minutes of no volunteers, I took the mike and sang Okie From Muskogee. Then I did something else that slips my mind. During the second song, the last patrons left. Leaving me, members of staff, and the karaoke person. I did mange to persuade said karaoke person to do one song (Alanis Morrisette), and I did a stirringly assholearific rendition of My Way, before they told me they had to put on some normal music to try and attract customers. So then I went home. Definitely one of the wierder karaoke experiences.

That's so great! I can't say as I've ever shut down a karaoke production with an assholic rendition of anything. You've given me something to aspire to. :)
In my defence, I have to point out that it wasnt just my rendition of Sinatras "I was an asshole" anthem that shut the karaoke down, but the general lack of interest in karaoke shown by everyone on Flinders street other than me.
